Big News

The excitement this week is all about the City and Guilds program.  Creative quiltmakers know this UK educational opportunity as the best!  After a year of not-so-patiently waiting for a cirriculum update, I have been accepted as a student.  I will try to update the blog so that you can follow along my journey.  Anyone else in this program?

My poor neglected blog......

I am currently expanding my design skills by joining the Art Journal Caravan.  Some of these weekly digital collages will make their way onto a quilt.  Here's one.......

A quick look at the current project...

Here's the cracked paper quilt---yeah, I know, but that's what they are called because they have cracks in them on purpose.  This one is  "Cultivation", stemming from the hand and seed image.  I decided to add the cracks to look like weeds growing up, and then the vines around the borders appeared.  The vines boxed me in, so I added the boxes in red.  Of course, the boxes are where the buds (beads) grow......

Studio pix

Here's some pictures of the studio.  I have been spending hours in there this week, planning and working on a Jenny Beyer striped borders UFO.  Spring cleaning is in the air!

After the move....

Today is the first day we're not living out of boxes and I have only the deepest respect for Moving Men.  I mean that.   We hired my son and his friends as the muscle, but I still had to do the packing and unpacking.  The Good News?  I have a studio with a walk-in closet!!! Of course, now I've unpacked all the fabric, fiber and art supplies, you can only step-in.  No matter....it's the workspace that I love.   I furnished the studio with old furniture so I can paint with gusto.  I even included an old exercise bike for the days when inspiration is elusive.   Exercise really gets the blood to the old brain, and some really nice designs are the result.

All new for 2010

What's new for 2010?   My new Artfire studio has some OOAK quilt tops on display while I am busy  setting up my new studio at our new home.  So much NEW to deal with!  Hope to keep you posted on  my new projects as they happen and let you see my ongoing passion---fabric and fiber along with my artwork.  Join me for some fun.
